Founder’s Story

Anthony MillerHomelessness is a major problem that affects many people in America and it can strike at any given time without warning.  People can lose their homes for any reason.  Families and single people can find themselves homeless through no fault of their own.

I know this fact to be true because in 1979 I became a victim of homelessness.    Depressed, hungry and afraid, I found myself roaming the unforgiving streets of Los Angeles CA, doing whatever necessary to survive. I can still hear the haunting thoughts that plagued my mind, “How did I get here? What did I do to deserve this? Is God mad at me?” But the most chilling thought was “Will I die on the streets alone and unloved?”   Little did I know that this daunting life changing experiencing was more of a blessing than a curse.

Little did I know that this daunting life changing experiencing was more of a blessing than a curse.

You see, although I was going through hell on earth, it dawned on me that thousands of others faced the same debilitating circumstances.  In that very moment something clicked inside of me, I just wanted to reach out and help everyone.  I wanted to stop the pain, and bring joy and happiness back into the lives of the walking wounded.   Well, in 2000, I got the chance to do just that.  I founded a non-profit street outreach ministry called Rock of Ages Ministries in Newport Beach, CA. We catered to the homeless or anyone in need, whether it be food, clothing, shelter or prayer. Additionally, I’ve joyfully volunteered my services to various soup kitchens, food banks and rescue missions.  I founded Tender Touch Ministries in Irvine, CA to serve all those in need in Orange County.

Deborah Marcial

Friend to Tender Touch Ministries

Anthony has been a huge blessing, at a time when my marriage was suffering. And I am truly grateful for the time he took with me in prayer. I became a partner with Tender Touch Ministries because I believe and share in the love and compassion for our homeless brothers and sisters.

I am very grateful that Tender Touch Ministries was there for me in a way most needful. Getting help to heal the deepest hurts, pains and wounds of my heart was really what I needed more than anything. Then later on Tender Touch Ministries helped me with some clothes. Thank you Tender Touch Ministries . . . forever grateful!

Michael R. Lang

Veteran

I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Tender Touch Ministries for helping me when I was in dire need of food and clothing. I am a retired veteran of 22 years and I deal with multiple chronic challenges. That’s why it meant so much when Tender Touch Ministries came to me to give assistance, so I would not have to over exert myself. You guys are a true blessing!
